Satellite Beach Fire Department provides public education services to the community. The types of programs offered include Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, Fire Extinguisher use and safety, child safety programs and many other special requests. In 2009 we completed 135 special activities request for public appearances or classes, educated and trained 243 citizens in CPR and First Aid and presented fire safety education to 1,300 school age children at the local schools, special tours, and presentations at the station. Satellite Beach Fire Department also participated in several safety fairs in South Brevard County including Rockwell employee safety day, Texas Road House safety day and fair, Patrick AFB safety fair and the Special Olympics. The department’s county outreach programs had over 5000 citizen contacts in 2009

Satellite Beach Fire Department in partnership with Brighthouse Networks filmed four safety commercials that are aired on Brighthouse cable channels. The “Fireman Jim” safety commercials provide valuable safety lessons to children of all ages. These commercials have a viewing audience exceeding 70,000. This program was the ideal of Firefighter Jim Habovick and these public safety announcements has won Firefighter Habovick, Satellite Beach Fire Department and Brighthouse Networks national recognition.
